Job Title: CONTROLLER

Reports To: Chief Administrative and Finance Officer

Shift: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with weekends, holidays and special events required based on business needs.

FLSA Status: Exempt/Salaried


Summary

Helps direct financial activities of the Sundance Resort through planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions, managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results, coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements and other duties that are determined by the Chief Administrative and Finance Officer by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate staff.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the resort's accounting operations, including general ledger management, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring they are in compliance with accounting principles (GAAP) and industry standards.
  • Monitor cash flow, identifying and addressing variances, and ensuring the financial health of the resort.
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax filings and compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Manage the preparation of financial reports for ownership, management, and external partners.
  • Manage all credit card processing, including merchant services, and address any credit card questions, disputes, or issues that arise.
  • Oversee the resort's accounting team, providing leadership, training, and development opportunities.
  • Coordinate and manage internal and external audits, ensuring timely completion and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard resort assets and prevent fraud.
  • Review and approve financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Provide financial analysis and support for key business decisions, including capital expenditures, new projects, and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial systems and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices, making recommendations for improvements and compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting plus 5 to 7 years relevant experience or master's degree in accounting with 3 to 5 years relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Teams, Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct accounting software and Paylocity HCM preferred
  • Prior accounting background in hospitality, food and beverage, or resort management preferred.
