Job Title: Community Outreach Intern
Location: Main Branch
Status: Part-Time (20-25 hours a week, some Saturdays required)
Reports to: Mary Woodard, VP of Business Development
Position Purpose
Help us connect with our community through events, education, and outreach initiatives. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in public engagement, event coordination, and financial education while working with a supportive team dedicated to service.
You'll be trained in our products and services so you can confidently speak with attendees at various events. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys interacting with others, is passionate about community involvement, and is interested in careers in public relations, nonprofit, finance, or business.
Essential Duties, Skills & Abilities
- Exhibit outstanding member services skills by applying Granite Credit Union Service Standards and Core Values.
- Resolves member requests and questions promptly, courteously, and professionally.
- Proven ability to promote a team environment.
- Represent Granit Credit Union at community and business events including:
- Venture Out movie nights in Millcreek (Friday evenings)
- Golf tournaments, staffing the table at sponsored holes
- Community resource fairs and other local outreach events
- Set up and take down event booths, ensuring materials are organized and engaging.
- Share information with event attendees about Granite's products, services, and mission.
- Assist in delivering or supporting financial literacy presentations to youth and adults.
- Participate in team projects to support outreach efforts and department goals.
- Provide general administrative support including filing, updating spreadsheets, and assisting with campaign reporting.
- Offer input on new ways to engage the community and improve outreach effectiveness.
- Professionally express oneself through written and oral communication.
- Educate members about our products and services to meet their financial needs.
- Ensure that all information and transactions regarding credit union members are kept confidential. Maintain the security of the work area and keep it organized and neat in appearance.
- Maintain a professional and courteous attitude with all people, including fellow employees, members, management staff, board members, and outside vendors.
- Basic computer operating skills such as email, Microsoft Office, etc.
- Promote a professional appearance and attitude.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Attend meetings as required.
Experience
Friendly, approachable, and comfortable talking with people of all ages.
Public speaking or event coordination experience.
Interest in community service, marketing, education, or finance.
Education
Currently enrolled in the Granite School District Academy of Finance, currently enrolled in college, or High School Diploma or equivalent
