General Job Description:

Works under the direction of a supervisor, cleans and maintains offices, common areas, restrooms and training facilities.

Functional Requirements:

Performs any combination of the following duties: sweeps, mops and scrubs restrooms; empties trash and garbage containers; vacuums, dusts, sweeps, mops common areas and offices; strips and polishes hard surface floors; notifies supervisor concerning need for minor repairs or additions to lighting; maintains a clean and safe work environment at all times.

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
• Keep buildings in clean and orderly condition.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
• Mix water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
• Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
• Polish floors.
• Clean laboratory equipment, such as glassware and metal instruments, using solvents, brushes, rags, and power cleaning equipment.
• Drive vehicles required to perform or travel to cleaning work, including vans.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
• Move equipment, and supplies.
• Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating system
• Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.

Qualification Standards:

• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
• Pre-Employment qualification test if applicable
• OSHA approved corrective eyewear (Z87)
• Job site orientation
• Job site Personal Protective Equipment as applicable
• Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others in the work place.

Physical Involvement:

Employee may be required to do the following: climbing ladders, step stools, etc.; maintaining balance on ladders, step stools, etc.; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; handling possibly hazardous chemicals; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing; sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; crawling; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction

Mental Involvement:

Employee may be required to do the following: follow set procedures and standards; apply basic mathematical skills; read and understand labels; select proper tools; repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure; perform a variety of duties which may be repetitive; follow oral and/or written directions; read; write; ability to recognize and report safety hazards.

Work Environment Factors:

a.) Location: office setting with occasional access to fabrication shop

b.) Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site: uneven ground level; obstructed pathways; work performed at low and/or high elevations; work performed in confined areas

c.) Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site: predominately indoor climate; noise levels caused by equipment, etc.; potential exposure to chemical substances

Miscellaneous Requirements:

There may be times the individual may be required to perform a task other than their normal operation as required by the company or the supervisor, owing to the job demand.
