FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Restaurant Manager / Food & Beverage Manager
Employment Type: Seasonal Position (July-October), requires open availability including weekends and holidays

Position Summary:

The Food Runner plays a vital support role in the restaurant, ensuring the efficient and accurate delivery of food from the kitchen to guests. Acting as a liaison between the kitchen and the front-of-house team, the Food Runner contributes to seamless operations and a positive dining experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Food & Beverage Delivery

  • Retrieve completed food orders from the kitchen promptly and accurately.

  • Transport food and beverages safely and efficiently to assigned tables.

  • Verify order accuracy with servers prior to delivery.

  • Ensure food presentation, temperature, and quality are maintained during transport.

Server Support

  • Assist servers by delivering dishes, refilling beverages, and responding to guest needs.

  • Relay dietary notes or special guest instructions to kitchen staff when necessary.

Food Presentation & Handling

  • Maintain proper food handling practices at all times.

  • Handle trays and dishes with care to avoid spills or disruptions.

Operational Support

  • Inform kitchen team of any missing items or delays.

  • Clear used dishes and utensils in coordination with servers.

  • Assist in resetting tables and maintaining a clean service area.

Guest Interaction

  • Greet guests with professionalism and warmth when delivering food.

  • Respond to questions or concerns promptly and notify appropriate team members when needed.

Cleanliness & Organization

  • Keep service areas neat, stocked, and free of debris.

  • Follow opening and closing procedures to maintain cleanliness standards.

Safety & Hygiene Compliance

  • Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.

  • Use proper tools and techniques to ensure safe and hygienic service.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Restock condiments, utensils, and supplies as needed.

  • Support team members and contribute to a positive, efficient work environment.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Physical stamina and ability to carry trays or multiple plates.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Friendly, professional demeanor.

  • Previous restaurant or food runner experience preferred, but not required.

  • Must have open availability including weekends and holidays during the seasonal employment period (July-October).
