We are seeking a Surveying Crew Chief to join our team in Utah. In this role, you'll lead daily surveying and staking operations in the field, ensure clear communication with clients, and support the development of junior field staff. This is a hands-on opportunity to bring your experience and leadership to a growing surveying team.

Compensation: $25-35/hour 
Location: Sandy, Utah
FLSA Exemption: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Hours may vary


What you'll be doing:

  • Perform daily surveying and staking tasks as directed by the Survey Coordinator

  • Train and supervise rodmen in field activities

  • Maintain accurate daily work journals for yourself and crew members

  • Communicate directly with clients, providing daily site check-ins and updates

  • Ensure timely and complete execution of work orders

  • Maintain survey vehicles and equipment in clean, working condition

  • Foster strong working relationships with both clients and internal team members


What you have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in field surveying and/or staking

  • Strong knowledge of field survey procedures and equipment

  • Ability to perform calculations and follow written procedures

  • Valid driver's license

  • Punctuality and reliability on job sites

  • Willingness to complete a training and evaluation period (30–90 days based on experience)

  • Experience with drone-based surveying or photogrammetry


Preferred Certification(s):

  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification (for drone operations)

  • Utah Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) – not required for this role but preferred for advancement
