We are seeking an on-site Cost Accountant to join our team and play a key role in supporting our manufacturing operations through accurate costing, insightful analysis, and continuous improvement.
What You'll Do
As a Cost Accountant, you will partner closely with Finance, Operations, and Engineering to ensure accurate product costing and provide data-driven insights that support business decisions.
Product Costing & Analysis
- Maintain and update standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead
- Ensure purchased inventory reflects current and accurate costs
- Analyze and update product costs within the ERP system
- Support new product costing and trend analysis
Manufacturing Performance & Variance Analysis
- Track and analyze manufacturing variances (material, labor, overhead)
- Identify root causes and recommend improvements
- Monitor scrap rates, yield performance, and departmental efficiency
- Evaluate departmental efficiency and labor utilization
Cost Structure & Allocation
- Develop and maintain cost allocation methods based on appropriate cost drivers
- Establish and maintain overhead rates
- Recommend and maintain cost center and work center structures for accurate cost capture
Reporting & Month-End Close
- Prepare cost reports and operational performance summaries
- Support monthly close, including inventory valuation and variance analysis
- Assist with journal entries, work order closures, and financial audits
Systems & Operational Knowledge
- Develop expertise in ERP systems and how purchasing, payroll, BOMs, work orders, and sales interact
- Understand product structures, routings, and manufacturing processes
- Extract and analyze data to support decision-making and continuous improvement
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of cost accounting or general accounting experience
- Strong understanding of standard costing and manufacturing environments
- Experience with ERP systems (Business Central preferred)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities
