Our Salt Lake manufacturing facility is searching for an Accounting Manager to join our team. This position will:


O
versee the daily functions of accounting staff:

  • Set direction for and challenge staff appropriately.
  • Provide a level of supervision that brings out the best of each employee, and responds to the needs of the company in a timely and accurate basis.
  • Conduct staff meeting and meet with individual employees on a regular basis.

Perform month-end close:

  • Oversee the preparation and entry of monthly journal entries.
  • Close month-end books from consolidation of subsidiary to final financial statements.
  • Generate reports by the fourth day of each month.
  • Prepare all needed financial statements for internal purposes and provide corporate management with a package.
  • Prepare needed information for income tax preparations.
  • Complete work papers for audit.

Assist the Controller in overseeing companywide budget:

  • Provide historical data with analysis of actual-to-budget performance to department managers.
  • Assist managers in their process of budgeting, review the proposed budget and combine department budgets for overall picture.
  • Upload final budget into M2K.


A
udit and improve controls and procedures:

  • Set up policy and procedures to ensure the smooth and consistent flow of information; both within the accounting department as well as from a system stand point.
  • Develop internal controls that safeguard and track the assets of the company.

Analyze capital investment:

  • Monitor and track our investments in fixed assets and analyze pay backs compared to expected pay backs.
  • Monitor and track our capital spending requirements and report back to department managers.

Meet Federal and States taxes and reporting requirements:

  • Prepare all payroll tax filings, sales tax filings, excise tax filings and any other reporting requirements.

Oversee cost accounting functions:

  • Prepare month end and year-end journal entries affecting inventory valuation, COGS, and WIP valuation.
  • Maintain historical standard and actual cost information.
  • Cost new products as they proceed through the new set up process.
  • Analyze cost fluctuations, and investigate swings in scrap, labor, and efficiency rates.
  • Calculate year-end LIFO.
  • Compile direct labor and overhead rates for yearly budget process.

Skills and Abilities

This position requires:

  • An understanding and a capability to apply the interworkings of a total accounting system.
  • Strong computer skills on a main frame and personal computer. Knowledge of network operations and the management of fixed assets. Strong spreadsheet applications and word processing (Windows & Microsoft Office). Knowledge of international financial instruments. Knowledge of changing technology .
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills as the position works throughout the organization. Team leader that is capable of setting proper direction.
  • Results oriented and self motivation with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to maintain and work within strict confidentiality.

Education and Experience

  • BS in Accounting or closely related field
  • 3-5 Years of general accounting experience
  • 1-2 Years of cost accounting experience
  • 1-2 Years of supervisory experience

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of cost accounting or general accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of standard costing and manufacturing environments
  • Experience with ERP systems (Business Central preferred)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities
