A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A DISABILITIES/MENTAL HEALTH COORDINATOR
As a member of the Early Head Start team, you have the opportunity to develop and expand our programs for children with special needs. Working with parents, providers and team members you will develop and monitor observation plans that are specific to each client. You will also have the opportunity to recruit children with special needs to our programs and enrich their early education experiences.
Here at Kids On The Move, we know the joy of seeing a child blossom after overcoming a difficult learning challenge. As a member of our team, the most simple things excite you such as a child making unprompted eye contact, trying new foods, or saying hi to a peer. These accomplishments may seem simple, but you understand the struggle that led to their success. You make sure to keep detailed reports in order to document progress and notice trends and adjust observational plans when necessary.
You enjoy coming to work every day to interact and have fun with your clients. That is not to say you never face challenges. Thankfully, you are provided with resources and a highly supportive and collaborative environment where you are able to ask questions and work on finding solutions. Every day is an adventure because no two days are the same when working with children with special needs
