Job Title: Commercial Loan Analyst I

Location: Main Branch (3675 S 900 E, Millcreek, UT 84106)

Status: Full-Time (40 hours a week)

Reports to: VP Commercial Lending

 

Position Purpose

To limit the Credit Union's risk of losses by monitoring the quality of the business loan portfolio and keeping management informed of potential losses, trends and compliance problems. Specific responsibility for annual credit reviews of business loans with balances of $50,000 or more. Will contact business loan members to obtain updated financial information, analyze financial statements, generate credit write-ups, perform collateral inspections, and work closely with Chief Lending Officer to ensure quality of loan portfolio.

  • Exhibit outstanding member services skills by applying Granite Credit Union Service Standards and Core Values.
  • Ability to proactively analyze financial statements by identifying trends, weaknesses, industry comparisons and compiling into a comprehensive report for management review.
  • Prioritize multiple tasks to meet department annual review deadlines while ensuring credit integrity.
  • Maintain an organized workflow and maintain all files in an orderly fashion.
  • Maintain good communication with lending personnel through timely meetings and written correspondence.
  • Work closely with the entire Commercial Loan Team to ensure loan review process is working efficiently.
  • May also interact with business members during due diligence stage for ongoing development of credit/financial history to make accurate loan recommendations on new loans.
  • Review declined loans.
  • Review newly closed auto, credit card, commercial, construction loan requests for compliance.
  • Perform site visits.
  • Call on insurance companies to obtain current verification of insurance.
  • Process construction draws. Verify construction checks have cleared.
  • Call on past due business accounts.
  • Ensure that all information and transactions regarding credit union members are kept confidential. Maintain the security of the work area and keep it organized and neat in appearance.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude with all people, including fellow employees, members, management staff, board members, and outside vendors.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • All other duties as assigned by manager
  • Promote a professional appearance and attitude.
  • Basic computer operating skills such as email, Microsoft Office, etc.

Required Knowledge

  • Effective oral, written and electronic communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate objective views based on professional analysis.
  • A strong knowledge of commercial credit principles and pertinent laws.
  • Good business, financial statement, collateral analysis and research skills.
  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices and reporting of financial data.

Experience

One to three years of financial experience.

Prefer one to two years of lending experience.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent
