Description
This is a project-based employee role supporting the initial development phase of our autonomous vehicle platforms. Development phases of this nature span until project completion though scope and duration are driven by business needs.
Job Summary
The Project Manager I is responsible for executing assigned projects within defined scope, schedule, and budget. This role applies PMO standards, tools, and processes to plan, track, and report project progress while coordinating cross-functional teams. The Project Manager I ensures clear communication, maintains accurate project data, and escalates risks and issues early to support successful delivery of project milestones aligned to business objectives.
Managing people
- No direct reports
- Coordinates with Development Managers, Product Managers, Engineering Chiefs, and team members to ensure alignment and execution
- Participates in daily stand-ups and team meetings to track progress and identify blockers
- Supports team clarity by reinforcing priorities and assigned responsibilities
Project Management
- Executes assigned projects in alignment with defined scope, schedule, and budget
- Tracks project progress, milestones, and deliverables using PMO tools and standards
- Prepares and communicates regular project status updates (including schedule, risks, and issues)
- Escalates risks, delays, and issues early to appropriate stakeholders
- Supports coordination of project meetings, design reviews, and milestone reviews
Business Development
- Supports gathering and documentation of customer or internal requirements
- Assists in defining project scope and deliverables based on stakeholder input
- Provides input to planning activities such as timelines and high-level estimates as requested
Project Planning
- Supports development of project plans including scope, schedule, and task breakdowns
- Maintains project schedules and ensures tasks are properly sequenced and updated
- Documents and communicates requirements clearly to project teams
- Applies PMO templates and standards for planning and documentation
Project Execution
- Coordinates execution of project tasks across cross-functional teams
- Tracks completion of deliverables and ensures alignment to defined milestones
- Maintains visibility of project activities, dependencies, and risks
- Ensures project data (tasks, schedules, status) is accurate and up to date in PMO tools
Project Milestones
- Tracks milestone progress and ensures deliverables are completed on time
- Identifies potential delays and escalates risks impacting milestone delivery
- Supports root cause identification for missed milestones and contributes to corrective actions
Essential Education & Work Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
- 1–3 years of experience in project coordination, project management, or related role
- Foundational experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies, including participation in sprint planning, stand-ups, and backlog tracking
- Familiarity with PMP-based project management principles (e.g., scope, schedule, risk, and stakeholder management)
- Experience using project management tools (e.g., Jira, MS Project, Smartsheet)
- Experience working in cross-functional team environments
- Preferred experience in robotics, automation, or related technical industries
