Before it was the home of world-renowned skiing, Alta was a mining town. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A WINTER SEASONAL DISHWASHER
As a Winter Seasonal dishwasher, you are the support staff for the guest experience here at our ski lodge. After taking in the gorgeous view from our deck, you breathe in one more gulp of fresh, clean air and head in to begin your shift. You are on a team with coworkers who work at a swift pace. Your friendly and upbeat personal interactions with peers drives a collaborative environment! With your thorough understanding of cleaning & sanitation procedures you are able to provide customers & teammates alike with safe cutlery, plates & cookware. With attention to detail, you maintain the dishwasher chemical levels accurately, use clean gloves to grab clean dishes and airdry everything to meet health-code compliance. You communicate effectively with the Main kitchen & Caf Kitchen staff.
You love that you get to both interact with peers and keep busy with a variety of tasks throughout your shift. Time flies by! You are not just a dishwasher, but a food prep worker, silverware polisher, napkin folder, and busser as well. As an efficient, get-it-done person, you clean tables as you go. When you have a moment, you cleaning and refilling rinse buckets, empty and refill sanitizer buckets, put dishes away clean grill vents empty trash cans, refill hand-soap and towels at hand-washing sinks. These tasks may be done alone or with another dishwasher and sometimes you will even be joined on these tasks by some of the members of the upper management. As a team player, if you see something that needs to be done, you jump right in to help. But, of course, you never forget your guests! You get a change of pace and rotate from washing dishes in the Main Kitchen in the morning one day to washing dishes during lunch in the Caf Kitchen the next and your schedule is flexible. You enjoy your job. But you LOVE that, on your time off, you can take a few runs or just play in the "greatest snow on earth"!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A WINTER SEASONAL DISHWASHER
Previous restaurant experience is preferred but a positive attitude and ability to learn are the real requirements. Do you have a positive attitude? Are you a self-starter who doesn't need to be told what needs to be done? Do you take pride in your work? Are you enthusiastic and able to take directions from a diverse team of leaders and co-workers? Do you hold yourself accountable? Can you problem-solve in a fast-paced environment? This ski resort Dishwasher position averages40 hours per week. This Winter Seasonal Dishwasher position requires flexibility with start times, availability to work weekends, and extended hours during peak times. There are several rotating shifts, however, themajority of the shifts provide ample ski time.
Bringing cars to Alta is not recommended because of limited parking and the restrictions to vehicles that don't have four-wheel drive and winter tires or chains. The ski buses travel between the Salt Lake Metro Area and Alta from Mid-December until the second weekend in April. Service is every half hour from seven am until six pm, and there is a bus stop at Goldminer's Daughter Lodge.
ROOM AND BOARD
Accommodations are available for seasonal full-time employees. Employees are paired with other employees of the same sex. (Space permitting, couples or friends may be paired together.) Room & board is automatically deducted at abi-weekly rate of $138.46 per person.
