Job Title: OWL BAR SUPERVISOR

Rate of Pay: $12.00/ Hour + tips

Shift: Variable shifts, Sunday through Saturday

Part Time, Year Round

WEEKENDS & HOLIDAYS REQUIRED

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly


SUMMARY

Create an exceptional Sundance experience by providing consistent, friendly, professional, and timely service of food and beverages for Owl Bar patrons. Provide leadership, supervision and training for staff. Supervise all bartenders and scheduled staff in the absence of Owl Bar Manager.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Warmly greet all Owl Bar patrons.
  • Collect accurate payment for drinks.
  • Maintain a balanced bank.
  • Perform opening and closing side work for efficient, professional service.
  • Pass background check (including fingerprints) and TIPS and SIPS training certificate required by DABC.
  • Understand and comply with Utah liquor laws, ensure all bar employees have all required licensing.
  • Assist with tracking and documentation of required licenses and certifications.
  • Responsibly serve alcoholic beverages in accordance to laws, policies and procedures.
  • Work with manager on developing wine lists, price lists, and specialty drink lists.
  • Supervise and train all bartenders, testing them on wine and drink knowledge; schedule employees in absence of manager.
  • Exhibit job and product knowledge sufficient to provide guests with accurate information in all aspects of food, alcohol service, service and relevant information.
  • Assist manager with inventory of all liquor, beer, and wine.
  • Order all alcohol.
  • Assist manager with the control of all liquor and alcohol costs.
  • Ensure bar is set and ready for service to the Sundance standard.
  • Complete designated opening and closing responsibilities.
  • Ensure proper sequence of service is completed for all guests.
  • Warmly greet all Owl Bar guests.
  • Inform of daily specials, signature drinks/dishes, and personal recommendations.
  • Enter orders in point of sale system using proper table and seat numbers to ensure accurate delivery of food and beverage.
  • Attend regular trainings on drinks and service standards.
  • Learn all drinks and obtain a good knowledge of wines.
  • Learn all food from the bar and Foundry Grill menus.
  • Prepare and serve drinks, along with serving food over the bar counter.
  • Assist servers on the floor when necessary.
  • Set up and stock the bar at the beginning and end of each shift and keep bar clean and organized at all times.
  • Stock beer, wine juices, liquor and fruit.
  • Change draft beer kegs.
  • Share the history of the Owl bar with guests.
  • Wash and buff glassware.
  • Transport dirty dishes to kitchen dishwasher.
  • Gather wood for fireplace & build fire when appropriate.
  • Ensure Owl logo is stocked for sale.
  • Weekly dry storage order.
  • Showing up to assist with inventory.
  • Payroll and tips for shift in charge of.
  • Floor presence - run food to observe flow and support as needed to bar and service staff.
  • Ensure menus are freshly printed.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In the absence of the bar manager, supervise 2 to 4 bartenders and 2 to 4 servers. Assist with scheduling employees and maintaining the bar.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Complete all applicable paperwork for the above responsibilities and submit to HR in a timely manner.



QUALIFICATIONS

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, internet navigation and electronic mail.
  • Must possess or obtain a valid food handlers permit within 30 days of employment.
  • Must possess or obtain the Tips & Sips alcohol service permit within 30 days of employment.
  • Take and pass the DABC Manager Training and send fingerprints to the DABC.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
