Job Title: Mountain Host
Rate of Pay: $7.25 (plus ability to earn complimentary day tickets. 1 Ticket Voucher for every 3 shifts worked)
Shift: Part-time: Must be available to work at least twice a week- 8:00 AM-12:30 PM
MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK WEEKENDS & HOLIDAYS
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly
SUMMARY
Contribute to a positive sense of arrival for guests. Engage guests in an animated manner about Sundance Mountain Resort, its events, departments, and activities. Mountain Hosts can be assigned to two areas, areas of arrival, or on the mountain. Hosts assigned to an arrival area will direct and assist guests to where they need to go. They answer questions about ticketing, lifts, rentals, ski school, food and beverage and other resort activities/events. Hosts assigned to the Mountain are assigned to stand by the maps located at Mandan Summit and Bearclaw Summit. They help answer questions and direct guests to their desired destination. If requested, they may give a short tour of Sundance to guests. Once finished, they return to the map to finish their shift. Shifts run 8:30 am to 12:00 pm daily.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist guests with ticket purchase and promote online sales during peak days and hours.
- Host complimentary mountain tours when requested by guests.
- Before going on a tour, gather information about the guest's skill level/ability before and plan the tour accordingly while prioritizing safety.
- Conduct all tours on appropriate terrain and ensure safe skiing on tours by skiing in control on designated blue and green runs.
- During complimentary tours, inform guests about general runs and terrain available at Sundance Mountain Resort.
- Actively engage each tour participant and provide recommendations of other Sundance activities which may enhance their experience.
- Provide guests with general information and history about Sundance Mountain Resort.
- Model and teach "Your Responsibility Code" and ski/ride at a level that encourages safety and confidence in the guest
- Assist with conducting VIP tours.
- Always exhibit professionalism and sell the story of Sundance and the experience to VIP guests.
- Maintain a high level of professional communication with the Sundance Mountain Resort Host Supervisor by supporting on-going changes, meeting points and responding to all verbal, written and email communications in a timely manner and as directed.
- While on duty, wear proper uniform and make sure it's clean and well kept.
- Uniforms are not to be worn on the mountain while off duty or at other resorts.
- Maintain a professional level of communication with peers, leadership and guests, displaying an effective and positive manner of speech.
- Provide feedback to Sundance leadership to improve operations, tours and other professional needs.
- Hosts are not to clump together but spread out and engage and interact with guests.
- Help guests achieve their goals by developing trust, creating lasting positive first impressions, building friendly and professional relationships, displaying salesmanship qualities and stimulating the desire in the guest to return.
- Assist guests as they arrive and seek information and direction.
- Be familiar with all aspects of Sundance Mountain Resort's current activities, events, meetings and programs, and communicate this to the guests as appropriate.
- Demonstrate a pleasant and outgoing personality and exhibit excellent guest service.
- Build and strengthen guest relationships and promote returning clientele.
- When required, carry hot chocolate backpacks and hand out complimentary cups of hot chocolate to guests.
- Share Sundance's story of land preservation and environmental commitment.
- Sundance Mountain Resort Hosts are given additional benefits by way of skiing vouchers.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Interview process involves an on-snow ski/boarding/skills assessment. Must be 18 years of age or older.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. May be exposed to winter weather conditions for extended periods of the day. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
