As a Chainman, you'll play a key role in supporting field survey operations-working alongside experienced survey professionals while building the technical foundation for a long-term career in land surveying.

The Role: We are seeking a motivated Chainman to support our Survey team in Utah.
In this role, you will assist in field survey data collection, operate modern survey equipment, and support a variety of surveying and mapping efforts. You will work closely with the Party Chief and survey team to help ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support field survey efforts including boundary surveys, right-of-way surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking, ALTA surveys, and control surveys
- Assist with the setup and operation of survey equipment including total stations, GPS RTK systems, data collectors, digital levels, and laser scanners
- Record accurate field data, notes, and sketches (digital and handwritten)
- Assist with level circuits and GPS real-time network calibrations
- Read and interpret engineering plans, survey maps, and field notes
- Support staking, monument placement, and marking activities
- Maintain survey equipment, tools, and vehicles in good working condition
- Follow established safety procedures on active job sites
- Collaborate with survey team members and occasionally support basic Crew Chief duties
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma (2+ years of related field survey experience preferred)
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Basic understanding of survey methods, equipment, and field procedures
- Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions for extended periods (up to 12 hours per day)
