Description

The Early Head Start (EHS) Floater must be able to engage parents in sustained positive, age-appropriate play interactions during home visits with their children and/or work with the children in our classrooms. An EHS Floater must have a good understanding of typical development in children ages birth-to-3 years in all areas of development, including gross and fine motor, cognitive, social-emotional, self-help, sensory and state regulation, receptive and expressive communication, general health and nutrition.


JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Ensuring complete and accurate evaluation and assessment of child developmental status
• Promoting healthy family functioning and self-sufficiency through strength-based relationships and goal setting
• Guiding the family in the Family Partnership process to ensure that services:
• Ensuring that the child and family are linked to community resources as needed
• Receive and respond appropriately to voice messages, e-mails, faxes, and mail.
• Update team members on child and family status through voice-mail, e-mail, team meetings, and other appropriate modes of communication including Directive Supervision.
• Keep a personal work calendar, informing supervisor of any change of schedule.
• Accurately input hours worked on the electronic timecard program.
• Participate in the program self-assessment and quality improvement process.
• Daily document all services to families and attempts to provide services.
• Promote parent/male involvement in program activities and governance
• Support the School Readiness Plan
• Participate in Family Engagement Activities
• Work with children and parents with varying backgrounds and special needs in our EHS classrooms
• Implement Early Head Start services according to the Center Based Policy and Procedures and all Head Start Performance Standards.
• Provide quality, developmentally appropriate, responsive infant/toddler care and communicate positively with their parents.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


• Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood or a closely related field

• Two plus years' experience in an early childhood setting

• CDA with infant/toddler credentials

• Effective oral and written communication

• Working knowledge of computers and professional office software and equipment

• Bi-lingual English/Spanish Preferred
