The Director of Engineering/Resort Facilities is a strategic leader responsible for managing and directing all aspects of the engineering and maintenance operations to ensure the safety, functionality, and efficiency of the property and its systems. This role oversees the planning, execution, and supervision of repair, maintenance, and preventive programs, while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and company policies. The Director plays a critical role in capital improvement initiatives, supporting renovation and infrastructure upgrade projects from conception through completion. This position requires strong leadership, project management, and technical expertise to guide a high-performing team, optimize facility performance, and uphold service excellence across all engineering functions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
▪ Oversees daily operations and maintenance of all resort systems and equipment.
▪ Promotes a culture of safety, accountability, and service excellence.
▪ Administers the preventative maintenance program; completes and reviews work orders.
▪ Ensures completion of fire and safety inspections and follows through on discrepancies.
▪ Supervises and trains Engineering and Maintenance teams; schedules and evaluates performance.
▪ Responds quickly to service requests and work orders.
▪ Conducts vendor management, including obtaining bids and overseeing contractors.
▪ Leads capital improvement and renovation projects.
▪ Maintains guest rooms, public areas, back of house (BOH) spaces, and resort grounds.
▪ Ensures compliance with OSHA, health, fire, and environmental codes.
▪ Manages departmental budget and inventory; orders supplies as needed.
▪ Responsible for Manager on Duty shifts.
▪ Oversees advanced pool system operations, testing, maintenance, and compliance.
▪ Manages the resort's complex pool system, including a multi-functional pool room with advanced
filtration, heating, and chemical dosing equipment.
▪ Monitors water quality and chemical levels daily to ensure compliance with health and safety
standards.
▪ Maintains and troubleshoots pool pumps, heaters, filters, and automated control systems.
▪ Ensures the pool area and equipment meet all local and state health codes.
▪ Coordinates regular inspections and repairs to minimize downtime and maintain optimal guest
experience.
▪ Attendance is a key component of this position.
▪ Maintains a professional appearance in accordance with Company standards; wears the appropriate
uniform or attire.
▪ Maintains open and effective communication with team members and management.
▪ Attends and participates in team meetings.
▪ Adheres to established safety and emergency procedures and protocols, this includes Company,
federal, and state specific regulations and guidelines.
▪ Completes all required Company training/compliance courses as assigned.
▪ Adheres to Company standards and maintains compliance with all policies and procedures.
▪ Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATION
▪ High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
▪ Bachelor's degree in facilities management, business administration or related field is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
▪ A minimum six (6) years of experience in related field required.
▪ A minimum five (5) years of supervisory experience in related field required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees and coordinates the department's activities, with a focus on supervisory and organizational
goals. While a portion of the time may involve performing tasks similar to those of direct reports, the
primary responsibilities are related to management and coordination. Analyzes and resolves issues,
establishes work methods, ensures regulatory compliance, and maintains productivity. Uses judgment
within established procedures and policies to make appropriate decisions and take necessary actions.
Specific supervisory duties include, but are not limited to the following:

▪ Assigns, monitors, and reviews work; evaluates direct report's performance.

▪ Creates department work schedules.
▪ Approves time records and time off requests.
▪ Proactively assesses risk to establish systems and procedures to protect organizational assets.
▪ Ensures compliance with safety regulations.
▪ Develops and oversees the department's budget.
▪ Ensures accurate and efficient management of inventory.
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
▪ Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certification.
▪ Driver's Licenses (non-commercial) - must be state-specific.
