About being our Project Planner - Land Use Planning and Entitlements

The Project Planner will provide land use planning and entitlement support for exciting development projects across Southern California, applying land use policies and best practices in the preparation of land use entitlements, design, and site planning with local government entities. The Project Planner will perform preliminary zoning investigations and field studies. In addition, you will prepare and work in current planning, zoning, subdivision, and land use applications, including necessary findings, for projects in greater Los Angeles area.


Responsibility Highlights for our Project Planner - Land Use Planning and Entitlements

  • Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with clients, agency staff and project team members
  • Prepare well-organized project reports, case findings and presentation materials for public hearings and community meetings
  • Communicate effectively - both verbally and in writing - with internal teams, government agencies, clients, and external consultants.
  • Interpret and apply planning regulations and technical documents, including the Subdivision Map Act, CEQA, zoning codes, title reports, surveys and design plans.
  • Prepare and finalize high-quality project deliverables such as fee estimates, project schedules, due diligence reports and findings with minimal revisions needed by Project Manager
  • Ability to analyze and understand project needs in various political and governmental settings
  • Review and evaluate planning applications, development documents, and submittals for regulatory compliance with governmental requirements
  • Prioritize tasks, manage workload issues and delegate work effectively when needed
  • Provide on-call planning support services to a city/county public agency on as needed basis
  • Work independently in both office and remote environments while maintaining accountability and meeting deadlines
  • Apply knowledge and experience in long-range/advanced planning to support comprehensive planning efforts.

Minimum Qualifications to be our Project Planner - Land Use Planning and Entitlements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning/Studies, Geography, Architecture, or related field
  • A minimum of 6+ years prior experience in planning (Title, job responsibilities and salary will be commensurate with your level of experience)

Preferred Qualifications for our Project Planner - Land Use Planning and Entitlements

  • Advanced degree in planning
  • InDesign and other Adobe programs
  • Certifications: AICP, ENV SP, CEP, GISP, LEED AP, BD+C, ID+C, O+M, Homes, ND, NCI

    Compensation may be adjusted for well qualified candidates
