BACKGROUND: Since 1952, Beacon Group has been creating opportunities for people with disabilities across Southern Arizona, Phoenix and beyond. As a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit, Beacon serves over 2,000 people with disabilities each year. Beacon provides job training and placement, supported and center-based employment, and day treatment programs to assist the more than two-thirds of working-age people with disabilities who do not have a job. POSITION INTRODUCTION: Are you seeking a position as a Quality Assurance Inspector? If you are or you want to begin a career in this exciting and rewarding field, then we have the position for you.

We are looking for a patient, detail oriented and dedicated person to work in our QA department. This is a hands-on position.

QUALITY ASSURANCE:

  • Participate in implementing the Beacon Group Quality Management System.
  • Inspect work in progress to assure it meets job specifications.
  • Conduct audits of production, programs and services to ensure quality at the direction of the Manager of Quality, Risk, and Compliance.
  • Communicate to Department Supervisor reasons for rejection(s).
  • Communicate to Production Manager/Custodial Manager any rejections that may result in production delays and/or affect deadlines.
  • Assure Q.A. is complete according to contract priorities.
  • Maintain statistics on effectiveness of Q.A. program as directed.
  • Make recommendations for improvement of Q.A. program as needed.
  • Make recommendations for any improvements of any and all quality assurance policies and procedures.
  • Maintain revisions in Q.A. Manuals.
  • Train Q.A. substitutes in Q.A. requirements and systems.
  • Communicate to Department Manager any contract discrepancies, deviations or substitutions.
  • Quality Assurance Production
  • Inspect production for final quality assurance specifications.
  • Follow sampling plan directed by Manager of Quality, Risk, and Compliance.
  • Sign off on Invoice/Inspection Form(s) to indicate acceptance or rejection.
  • Re-inspect after any rejections per sampling plan directed by Manager of Quality, Risk, and Compliance.
  • Assure all postal forms are correct and complete.
  • Inspect all metered materials.
  • Assure jobs are properly packaged, tagged, and marked for delivery.
  • Inspect and approve production samples before the materials go to the floor when directed.
  • Assure completed forms are returned to Production Manager and/or Warehouse Manager to assure jobs are shipped out in a timely manner per due dates.

SAFETY:

Follow all safety policies and procedures.
Attend training and yearly review on the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard and Beacon's Exposure Control Policy and Hazard Communication Program. Understand and follow all safety standards.
Report any potentially dangerous situations to supervisor and Human Resources. Take steps necessary to protect clients and staff until the situation is corrected.
Reinforce safe practices to clients, and other staff.
Attend Safety training(s) as required.
In the event of an industrial accident or illness, in conjunction with supervisor, complete an accident investigation and report to Human Resources.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds unassisted.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures, inspection processes, and data collection.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities or related course work is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
  • Six months experience in quality control / quality assurance program.
  • Must be able to obtain government clearances for facility access. (Job specific)
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience generating charts, graphs, and reports based on qualitative and quantitative data.
