CMT Technical Services is seeking an experienced Laboratory Supervisor to manage, coordinate, and oversee laboratory operations, equipment, and staff at CMT's expanding Phoenix, Arizona office. This is a working manager role for a leader who thrives in a high-production laboratory environment where safety, quality, responsiveness, and accreditation compliance are critical.
The Laboratory Supervisor is expected to lead by example, actively promoting CMT's core values while ensuring laboratory testing operations meet CMT's quality system, accreditation standards, and client expectations.
Oversee and perform routine to complex laboratory testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and masonry grout.
Ensure testing, documentation, calculations, and reporting comply with CMT's Quality System Manual, applicable specifications, and professional standards of care.
Maintain laboratory equipment, schedules, and calibration in accordance with internal procedures and accreditation requirements.
Manage and maintain national and State of Arizona laboratory accreditations.
Ensure laboratory safety standards and protocols are followed at all times.
Supervise laboratory staff, including scheduling, coordination of resources, internal quality control, and deliverables management.
Lead, mentor, train, and develop laboratory personnel to support professional growth and performance objectives.
Evaluate team performance, identify training needs, and support certification and continuing education efforts.
Serve as a positive, motivating influence by promoting and living CMT's core values.
Coordinate laboratory workload to ensure project deadlines are met and client expectations are exceeded.
Communicate effectively with clients, staff, and supervisors to deliver laboratory services profitably and consistently.
Support marketing and proposal development efforts as needed.
Establish and maintain strong internal and external client relationships through professionalism and service focus.
Prudently manage laboratory resources to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost control.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to laboratory staff.
Represent CMT with local and national professional organizations.
Minimum 5 years of construction materials laboratory testing experience.
Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems and laboratory sampling, testing, and reporting standards.
High school diploma or equivalent (advanced degree in engineering technology, construction-related field, or construction management preferred).
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Proficient technical writing and report review skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Ability to work overtime, weekends, non-standard hours, and holidays as needed to meet project demands.
Authorization to work in the United States.

Arizona Technical Testing Institute (ATTI): Asphalt, Soils, & Aggregate
CMT provides financial assistance for certifications, renewals, PDHs, and CEUs.
Laboratory-based role with localized travel throughout Phoenix, Arizona.
Occasional travel to other CMT offices or project sites may be required.
