Summary: Conveys and ensures that the vision and goals of the credit union are effectively communicated and implemented in the branch network. Takes the leading role in supervising the branch network, including the responsibility to ensure that branch staff act in accordance with the policies and procedures, as set forth by the credit union.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicates and reinforces organizational goals and directives at the branch level. Identifies and implements activities at the branch level that contribute to these goals.
  • Keeps management informed regarding key operating issues affecting the branches. Provide branch representation when coordinating with management by sharing perspectives and considering potential impact.
  • Supervises the overall daily operations of the branches including responsibility for planning, directing, organizing, and overseeing both the strategic and operational activities.
  • Directly supervises Regional Managers and oversight of all other branch managers and staff.
  • Maintains and develops qualified and professional branch staff to meet the needs of the credit union. Helps direct, develop leadership skills, coach, and motivate all branch personnel to foster career development and staffing tenure.
  • Helps in developing the branch hiring profile, making hiring decisions and recommending branch wages. Handles organizational structure changes within the branches.
  • Coordinate and collaborate effectively with the operations training department to maintain a well-trained staff that can provide quality recommendations and service to members.
  • Completes performance reviews with the intention to find opportunities for employee development.
  • Handles non-routine matters that arise (member issues, employee discipline, etc.).
  • Handles member complaints that go beyond the branch and regional manager.
  • Monitors all credit union branch operations to ensure consistency of quality member service and compliance with credit union policies and procedures. Recommends improvements to policies and procedures when warranted. Take action to implement changes as needed.
  • Ensures that the branches are prepared for emergencies, robberies, etc.
  • Maintains acceptable risk and internal control standards.
  • Reviews applicable branch reports and build plans for continued improvement that will meet the organization's future growth plans.
  • Monitors branch expenses throughout the year and meets the annual budgeted operating plan for the branches.
  • Makes recommendations to strategic direction that will benefit the credit union.
  • Maintains/improves the financial stability of the branches.
  • Works on special projects and making recommendations as assigned. This could involve procedures, new products or vendors, models for growth or efficiency, etc.

Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years of similar experience leading branches within the financial services industry
  • A thorough knowledge of credit union operational activities is a must
  • Bachelor's degree required; experience in lieu of education will be considered.
