Job Title: LIFT MAINTENANCE LEVEL III

Department: Mountain Operations

Reports To: Lift Maintenance Manager

Rate of Pay: DOE

Shift: Weekends, holidays and special events are required based on business needs.

Weekly shift is usually 5 days per week.

Must be available early mornings for control work in winter as needed.

Sunday through Monday

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly Year Round


SUMMARY: Lift Maintenance Level III candidate will help create a safe lift experience while delivering a dynamic and engaging experience for guests. Candidate uses his/her mechanical abilities to assist the Lift Maintenance Manager with all aspects of chairlift maintenance year-round. Candidate will enjoy working outdoors and in extreme conditions. Organizes, trains, documents, and supervises the performance of other lift operators and maintenance crew. Candidate must be self-motivated and interested in hard work.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Maintenance of detachable and fixed grip aerial lifts and surface lifts.

Works with the public, deals with winter and summer conditions, and fulfills requirements of avalanche control mornings.

Ability to understand, analyze and apply ANSI B77.1 requirements for all ropeways.

Is safety-minded and follows best industry practices.


Lift Maintenance:

Ability to oversee, direct and instruct Level I and Level IIs in all aspects of lift maintenance.

1+ years of experience as Level II or equivalent experience.

Assists with maintenance shifts during operations.

Assists Lift Maintenance Manager in seasonal maintenance of all lifts.

Runs his/her own maintenance crew on any lift.

Accurately performs lift maintenance without needing supervision.

In the event that the Lift Maintenance Manager or Lead Lift Mechanic is unavailable, fulfills duties as needed.

Furthers their knowledge of proper diagnosis and repair of all lifts and related equipment without the assistance of the Lift Maintenance Manager.

Provides accurate up-to-date record keeping of completed maintenance.

Comfortable working from heights while on lift towers and work carts.

Utilizes appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) for task.

Is prepared to stay overnight if necessary on occasional times of road closures.

May pursue or be assigned other duties within Mountain Operations based on departmental needs and individual interests.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise 2-3 maintenance personnel during seasonal maintenance. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in the absence of Lift Maintenance Manager in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training and overseeing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance.


Always act as a leader and set an example to all staff. Assist the Lift Maintenance Manager with building a strong leadership team. This includes assisting with the training of lower-level mechanics who are working to qualify for promotion within Lift Maintenance.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one season related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

1+ years of experience as a Lift Mechanic Level II or equivalent experience.

Customer service experience in the ski industry is preferred but not required.


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid U.S. Drivers' License in good standing as determined by Sundance's Insurance Company guidelines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The employee will be working at night and may have special conditions that may come and go with this circumstance such as low temperatures, ice, low visibility, etc.
