Position Purpose/Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for process improvement through systemic problem solving, statistical analysis, Lean Six Sigma principles, and process optimization. This role will focus on data-driven decision-making and continuous process improvements to support the development and sustainment of the X-ray Detectors business unit.

Essential Duties:

  • Use systemic problem solving methodologies in conjunction with statistical knowledge to drive continuous improvement, reduce variability, and improve overall yield.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to resolve production issues.
  • Work closely with the Quality and management team to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) based on data-driven insights and feedback from customers.
  • Support Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), and standard work (SW) initiatives to drive waste reduction and efficiency.
  • Oversee the performance of processes and tests, then document the results of the process or test.
  • Develop, edit, and maintain standard work combination sheets (SW), process flow charts, and value stream maps (VSM).
  • Support the incoming quality assurance (IQA) team with resolving non-conforming report (NCR) action items and countermeasures.
  • Become a proficient subject matter expert (SME) on the products and processes in the assigned area.
  • Become proficient in XRF technologies.

  • Motivation: Self-starter able to function with minimal supervision. Actively coordinates with other team members to proactively identify and resolve manufacturing quality issues.
  • Communication: Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Statistical Background: Experience with various statistical tools and software.

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. or M.S. in engineering, or science related discipline (accredited university preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in statistical software (Minitab, JMP, R, or equivalent) for data analysis (required).
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification and/or lean manufacturing training.
  • DOE matrix creation and interpretation.
  • Proficient in MS Office. Specifically: Excel, Word, Visio, and Project.
