Position Summary:Assist with daily maintenance, upgrade and engineering of the existing network infrastructure, including Fiber Optic, Ethernet and Wireless infrastructure. Will work on projects, as assigned, to integrate new systems into, as well as update and enhance, the existing network infrastructure, including; planning architecture, design and engineering.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities:
Network Engineering: Assist with configure and maintenance of networking hardware, including routers, switches, access points, firewalls, VPN and other network hardware. Analyzes problems and recommends the best solutions or corrective actions. Develops and maintains accurate network documentation. Performs routine system operations and upgrades to network system and architecture. Participates in the maintenance and support for entire infrastructure, including Fiber Optic network and Ethernet cables/wiring for buildings.
Voice Network/Telecommunications: Assists in providing support for VoIP telephony infrastructure. Provides technical expertise and advice on telecommunications and data network system design, layout, and modifications. Assists with system engineering to Cisco VoIP phone system Cisco Unified Communication managers and Cisco Unity voice mail system and servers.
Fiber Optic/Data Infrastructure: Assist with fiber optic splicing activities - including continuity testing, OTDR trace analysis and optical power meter data of fiber optic cables. Installs, maintains, repairs, and relocates, data communication copper and fiber-optic cables and equipment. Maintain current and accurate records of cable usage, location, and troubles. Assists with testing of fiber optic patch cords and other network equipment and cabling. Assists with ordering of supplies used for telecommunication and fiber optic work.
