JOB SUMMARY

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a key strategic partner to the President & CEO and Executive Leadership Team, providing enterprise-wide financial leadership, governance, and risk oversight. The CFO is accountable for the integrity of consolidated financial statements, enterprise cash flow governance, forecasting, and reporting. This role designs and leads the financial infrastructure required to scale a growing organization while ensuring disciplined governance, profitability, and risk mitigation across the corporate entity and hotel portfolio.

As architect of the company's financial strategy, the CFO oversees Corporate accounting, insurance and captive programs, payroll governance, medical cost strategy, and liquidity planning. This leader builds and develops a high-performing finance organization capable of supporting long-term growth, portfolio expansion, and operational excellence.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Owns the organization's consolidated financial statements, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance.
  • Prepares and presents comprehensive financial reporting, forecasts, and strategic insights to the Board of Directors.
  • Prepares and presents financial performance, forecasts, and cash flow projections to executive leadership and owners.
  • Establishes and governs enterprise-wide financial controls, reporting standards, and accountability frameworks.
  • Leads long-range financial planning aligned with growth, acquisitions, and portfolio strategy.
  • Establishes and owns enterprise cash flow governance for both corporate and portfolio operations.
  • Oversees liquidity management, capital allocation, and financial risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensures disciplined financial review processes to safeguard company assets and optimize profitability.
  • Owns and leads the company's captive insurance program, including insurance meetings, trend analysis, and strategic risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Oversees property insurance broker relationships and premium allocation methodology across the portfolio.
  • Leads workers' compensation claim governance in partnership with Operations and Human Resources; evaluates trends and implements cross-functional risk-reduction strategies.
  • Drives enterprise risk assessment initiatives designed to reduce exposure and improve financial performance.
  • Owns strategic assessment of company medical costs and benefit funding strategies to ensure long-term sustainability.
  • Establishes and governs payroll review and processing controls in collaboration with Human Resources and cross-functional partners.
  • Ensures compliance, internal controls, and financial integrity across payroll and benefits administration.
  • Leads and develops the Vice President of Finance and broader finance organization, providing executive oversight to the Corporate Controller.
  • Builds scalable finance infrastructure and leadership capability to support company growth and succession planning.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards across the organization.
  • Oversees internal and external audits to minimize financial and operational risk.
  • Implements governance frameworks that strengthen transparency and accountability at the enterprise level.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor to ownership, executive leadership, and key stakeholders.
  • Provides financial leadership supporting acquisitions, development projects, and portfolio expansion.
  • Delivers data-driven financial insights to guide enterprise strategy and performance optimization.
  • Maintains open and effective communication with team members and management.
  • Attends and participates in team meetings.
  • Adheres to established safety and emergency procedures and protocols, this includes Company, federal, and state specific regulations and guidelines.
  • Completes all required Company training/compliance courses as assigned.
  • Adheres to Company standards and maintains compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business administration from an accredited university or equivalent in related field.

EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum fifteen (15) years of progressive financial leadership experience.
  • A minimum ten (10) years in a senior financial leadership role (CFO, SVP Finance, or equivalent) within the hospitality industry overseeing a multi-property portfolio.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees and coordinates the department's activities, with a focus on supervisory and organizational goals. While a portion of the time may involve performing tasks similar to those of direct reports, the primary responsibilities are related to management and coordination. Analyzes and resolves issues, establishes work methods, ensures regulatory compliance, and maintains productivity. Uses judgment within established procedures and policies to make appropriate decisions and take necessary actions.

Specific supervisory duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Determines and creates policies, procedures, and manuals for direct reports.
  • Establishes objectives and goals for the team.
  • Assigns, monitors, and reviews work; evaluates direct report's performance.
  • Recruits and interviews.
  • Issues corrective action and makes recommendations for termination.
  • Investigates and resolves concerns and complaints.
  • Approves time off requests.
  • Proactively assesses risk to establish systems and procedures to protect organizational assets.
  • Ensures compliance with safety regulations.
  • Develops and oversees the department's budget.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS

  • CPA or CHAE Certification required.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

This position requires the capability to understand and follow both oral and written directions, as well as, knowledge and usage of correct business English and office practices. Must be able to communicate effectively with others, analyze and resolve problems, maintain effective working relationships, and interact successfully with internal and external customers.

  • Demonstrated experience establishing and leading financial governance within a successful growth-oriented organization.
  • Proven experience supporting hotel acquisitions, dispositions, and complex hospitality transactions.
  • Strategic financial leadership with demonstrated expertise in capital structure, liquidity management, and long-term financial planning.
  • Deep knowledge of enterprise cash flow governance, financial controls, and risk management frameworks.
  • Proven ability to design and scale finance organizations to support growth, acquisitions, and portfolio expansion.
  • Experience presenting financial performance, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to boards, ownership groups, and executive leadership.
  • Expertise in enterprise risk management, including insurance strategy, captive oversight, and workers' compensation trend governance.
  • Strong background in acquisition modeling, financial due diligence, and post-transaction integration planning.
  • Ability to align financial strategy with operational performance and owner expectations across a multi-property portfolio.
  • Advanced financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, pro forma development, capital allocation, and profitability optimization.
  • Experience establishing financial governance for payroll, compliance, and audit readiness across complex organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and partner effectively with senior leaders and external stakeholders.
  • Proven success in building, developing, and mentoring high-performing finance teams and succession pipelines.
  • High integrity, sound judgment, and discretion in managing confidential and strategic financial matters.
  • Ability to operate effectively in dynamic, growth-oriented environments while maintaining financial rigor and control.
  • Proficient in M3 and ProfitSword.
  • Computer proficiency in Google Workspace.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships with team members at all levels.
